The Dadidol (a.k.a. The Dad Idol) Treasure Worthy of a Thousand Groans
From the glittering Fertility Idol in Indiana Jones to the famously frustrating Silver Monkey statue in Legends of the Hidden Temple, the Dadidol takes its place among legendary treasures. Now it’s Dad’s turn.
This is a three-stage maze puzzle disguised as an ancient relic. No electronics, no instructions, just hands-on problem solving and a few muttered pirate curses.
First, align the base and body. Next, drop in the core. Finally, crown it with the head to complete the statue.
Why is it called the Dadidol? Because once it’s assembled, it just sits there proudly… doing absolutely nothing useful.
Built for ages 5 and up, and rated 3 out of 10 in difficulty, the Dadidol is perfect for family fun, treasure hunts, and pirate-themed challenges. It can print support-free in most cases, though a few light supports won't hurt, especially if you're printing larger. For best results, print with 3 to 4 walls and consider adding weight with sand or extra infill. This thing is meant to be tossed, twisted, and tested. It's more relic than decoration.
Once built, split it up again and turn it into an adventure. Hide the pieces across the house, the yard, or a ship deck if you’ve got one. Draw a map. Set a timer. Let the race begin.
Example prize: First one to reassemble the Dadidol and return it to dear old Dad gets to assign him one chore of their choosing. That’s right. Any chore. Even the garbage cans.
Other ideas: Final challenge in a birthday treasure hunt Relay race centerpiece Tabletop prop or LARP artifact
If this kind of Puzzle Treasure is your style, let me know. I’d love to make more, with new themes, cultures, and hidden secrets. But only if it earns its place. Just like any good treasure. Like it, tell your friends about it's mysteries, add it to your pirate collections. Help get it out there! Then come back and share your stories. Because I really want to hear them.
Sometimes, the real reward isn't the gold. It's getting there.
