Smaller Remix of GreenPanda's K1 Max Aux Fan Carbon Filter
Why does this remix made? The inlet (the hole the Auxiliary fan blows into) of the original v2 filter by GreenPanda is too big for my Aux fan. We all know Creality can be “creative” in their build sometimes…more like all the time but that's not a problem when it's 3D printer because we 3D print. So I need a filter box that has smaller inlet, and slightly slimmer profile to sit on top of my Aux fan without risk of the print head bumping into it while waiting to print.
Do you need this one or do you need the original V2 by GreenPanda? Check the size of the hose that come with your printer. Note that the screw that lock it in can be kinda stealthy. This is my hose. Note that my screw hole is torn because I don't care to preserve it. You will find my remix to fit better on your fan if your hose is the same size as mine. Also note the holes in the connection for a snap lock. The holes don't exist in GreenPanda's design. These holes can make the connection lose the proper fit, and cause much of the air to leak out to the side. I add it to avoid the leak.
The size of this remix is for the Aux fan outlet that is 4.8cm long x 2.8 cm wide.
I print with PETG and nothing else fancy. Screw it in and snap it into the fan and it's done. I also use nanotape as kinda soft seal to the lip of the fan, but that's just me.
I use activated charcoal for aquarium supply. Seems to work alright.
Important note! Test if the charcoal is made with acid BEFORE using it. If it's acidic, your printer will rust like Private Ryan at the end of the movie. Take a few iron pieces and put it in the coal bag for a few days. See if it rust. If it doesn't then it's fine to use. If it does, don't use it in printer. It doesn't worth it.
You don't have to pack the coal tightly. Just put some kind of filter to prevent it from falling into the fan and flying out of the lid and you'll be fine. Too tightly packed and airflow will be an issue.
Thank you GreenPanda for a great filter box.
