Can Claw - Fold Out Desk Cupholder - Minimalist Work From home setup

Instructions Hardware Filaments

Can Claw - Beginner

This Cupholder folds out to hold your drinks, and folds away to keep your setup clean. It uses a hinging mechanism to automatically deploy when you need a place for your drink! Think of it like a Car cupholder, but for your desk!

Not only is the great for holding normal, and skinny cans, It can also hold headphones, bags, hats, or anything you can think of! And once you don't need it anymore, it folds away for a clean and minimalist look.

How does it work? Print in place hinges allows the hinges to swing open. The Pieces Slot together and attach to the underside of your desk using command strips.

You Deploy the Can Claw by pulling the tab forward, and once it reaches the end, gravity flops it open for you!

Easy Printing This model can be printed using stock settings! Making it a great print for printing beginners.

I really like this design, however the 3M Command Strips just weren't working for me. So I modified the housing to include 4 screw holes for a permanent attachment to my desk.

Really really sorry about the command strips not working. I updated the link with the correct velcro command strips that work great

Since it very snugly fits around a soda can, I re-printed it scaled up again 20% so it would be more accomodating to my kitchen cups (while still being able to hold a can well), as well as increasing the infill percentage slightly as I anticipate this will take a lot of abuse!

The one file just has all of the parts in it and its not a sinlge piece. It makes it hard for those of us with tiny Print beds. Can you fix the file?

Hi ! Right click the model and select "Split to Objects" if you have a small printer and need to print on separate build plates

Highly recommend switching to a different slicer haha, Cura is so limited.

But there still is a way to do it in cura, its just a few more steps: https://all3dp.com/2/cura-split-model-tutorial/
