Guitar Hero Wammy Bar Base Fix.stl
Hello World!
I got super into Guitar Hero/Clone Hero lately and figured it’d be fun to have a second controller for friends to come over and use.
I didn’t want to drop more than $20 on another controller, so I found a broken one on Facebook Marketplace for $15 and decided to fix it myself.
When I opened it up, everything worked except the whammy bar. Turns out the plastic nub that connects to the spring was completely snapped off (see picture). I found a replacement part online for about $10 (https://hobbycnc.com/product/whammy-repair-base/), but that felt like too much to spend and I didn't want to wait around for shipping.
I tried looking for STL files to 3D print a new whammy bar assembly, but most of the ones I found were too weak and kept breaking the same way.
I ended up making my own solution for the broken nub problem that so many Guitar Hero controllers seem to have. My design works with every base type, so you don't need to worry about compatibility.
Enjoy!

Nice! I was about to start designing this exact same part since I didn't trust just printing the entire assembly to be strong enough at the nub, but I'm glad I poked around for others' solutions first since yours is a lot simpler than what I was gonna try.
