Painting and & post process instructions:

  1. Prep: Use white filament and sand the model lightly to smooth any layer lines (recommended to use wood filler/or plastic putty, and primer spray with a little bit of sanding to minimize layer lines visibility)
  2. Base Coat: Spray the entire model with a light ivory or cream primer as a base coat. This gives the model an even starting color and helps subsequent paint layers adhere better.
  3. Shading and Depth: Use a wash technique with diluted brown, reddish, or orange acrylic paint. Apply the wash into all the crevices (like between the wax drips) to create shadows. Wipe off any excess from raised areas with a paper towel or cloth. Airbrush or hand-paint gentle red and orange tones around the lower portions of the model to create the melted wax effect, blending from dark at the bottom to lighter at the top.
  4. Highlighting Details: Lightly dry-brush off-white or very light beige paint on raised areas, like the edges of the wax drips. This adds dimension and makes the model look more realistic and "organic."
  5. Sealant: Once the paint is dry, apply a matte or satin clear coat to protect the paint and give the body a soft wax-like texture.

For the eyes to look nice, shiny and alive: Paint it using glossy acrylic paint or black enamel paint. Apply at least two coats to get a rich, solid black finish. To get the shiny effect, after the black paint has dried, apply a layer of glossy clear varnish or resin over the eyes. This will give the eyes a reflective, glassy appearance.
