Jack-O-Lantern with USB light mount
Jack-O-Lantern with USB light mount
The tradition of the jack-o'-lantern began in Ireland using turnips, beets, or potatoes instead of pumpkins. It originates from an Irish myth about "Stingy Jack," a man who tricked the Devil and was condemned to wander the Earth forever with only a burning coal inside a carved turnip to light his way. Locals carved scary faces into these vegetables to frighten away Jack and other roaming evil spirits. When Irish immigrants moved to America in the 19th century, they discovered the native pumpkin. Because pumpkins were larger, softer, and much easier to carve, they quickly became the permanent symbol of Halloween.
