Logical Grow Platform (LGP)

This year I decided I’m growing hot peppers properly 🌶️

Living in a colder climate means they need a long head start indoors if you want strong plants and a good harvest. My end goal is actually to smoke my own jalapeños in the smoker and turn them into homemade chipotle peppers — which means I need healthy, strong plants right from the start.

In the past that usually meant stacking seed trays on heat mats, balancing grow lights on boxes, and constantly re-adjusting things as everything stretched upward.

It worked… but it was messy, unstable, and never felt like a real system.

So I designed a better one.

The result is the Logical Grow Platform (LGP) — a fully 3D-printed modular grow setup that holds seed trays securely, integrates optional bottom heat for faster germination, and uses smooth adjustable posts to raise and lower the grow light as plants grow (about 6mm per full rotation for precise control).

Along with the platform, I also created a new line of deep cell plug trays designed specifically for healthy root development and easy transplanting.

The trays feature:

• Deep cells for strong root systems
• Built-in drainage and airflow
• Removable bottom ejectors that gently push plants out without damage
• Translucent humidity domes to maintain moisture during germination
• Optional accessories like single-cell soil funnels for clean filling and reusable plant markers for easy labeling

They drop directly into the LGP but also work perfectly on their own for anyone who just wants better seed starting trays.

One thing I made sure from the beginning is that the entire system prints on a standard 250mm print bed — no oversized printers required — so it’s accessible to most hobbyists and makers.

Right now I’m using it for pepper starts, but from the beginning the goal was bigger — a modular growing ecosystem that can expand into longer-term indoor growing and even hydro-style inserts in the future.

Seed starting is just the first step.
