July 2026 Release - the Old Glory Lockbox

Hi Printsmiths! America's 250th Anniversary is here! Celebrate the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave, set off a ton of fireworks, enjoy a nice cookout with family and friends, and show your patriotic spirit with the Old Glory Lockbox!

This release continues our pivot into the Summer Season and is my attempt to honor the Stars and Stripes, and I’m honestly quite happy with how this overall design and color scheme turned out. Every summer we host a big family party, catch up with everybody, share a bunch of awesome food, and fire off a small fortune’s worth of pyrotechnics. And every year it’s a blast!

I went back to a classic color scheme for this project, leaning heavily on Wine Red, Blue, and a sparkly Gold PLA from Polymaker, along with my tried-and-true True White PLA from Hatchbox. The font for this release clearly needed to be a traditional typeset-style character set, evoking old newspapers and books printed using a colonial printing press. There are tons of fonts that fit this scheme, but I ended up using Clarendon URW by the URW Type Foundry, and it really ties together the “classic” feel I was going for.

Going forward, I’m going to do my best to get our monthly releases out on the 1st of the month. I’ve really enjoyed putting together consistent designs and testing my design chops, and I think being a bit more regimented with my planning and release schedule will help me improve my craft even more.
