February's collection is all about the Noctuoidea Moth Folk, who live deep in the Twilight Forest. The most prestigious caste are the mages, who draw their magic directly from Divalia, the dead moon goddess. Considered to be closest to their goddess, the highest honor is given to those who can access her Barrow Realm. This month's mages are specifically from the Celestial Scriptorium, the religious library which keeps and maintains the records of the church of Divalia, as well as all the magical texts of the Noctuoidea. The librarian mages of the Scriptorium are typically researchers, historians, and scribes, although many (including the Dean of the Scriptorium) are also extremely powerful and skilled magic users.

The fantastic base and terrain pack this month was sculpted by Calrais, with concept art by Paul Ferret. The throwbacks this time are from the Qian Sheng Shan, the Thousand Sacred Mountains region where the rabbitfolk live, and the feixian cranes wander. Our base pack comes from a seafaring pirate collection, which would go beautifully with our 3 month Loyalty reward!

Conflux Creatures has helpfully created this index of all the collections he's done stats for, organized by Faction: https://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/shareoYUL7FCY9x . Right now September is the latest month available, but Isaac is still working on these and intends to catch up.

This month's Lore:

Saturnia, Noctuoidea Mage

A young, up-and-coming mage in the Noctuoidea forces, Saturnia’s magic manifests as bright pulses of light that resemble the stars at night. Still idealistic and a bit naive, Saturnia believes in the righteousness of Noctuoidean magic, and that the evil Fidelium seek to take away their greatness for selfish ends. She considers herself a true follower of Divalia, the proof of which is her strong link to the goddess’ magic. Some envy her surety - but pride cometh before a fall, as they say.

Noctuoidea Vigilor

Guards of the central temple of Divalia, the Vigilor wear the characteristic ornate armor of their order, showing off the power, wealth, and glory of the temple. Skilled swordswomen, they wield two-handed greatswords made from the moon-metal of Divalia’s corpse, a remarkably light and strong metal whose properties can’t be replicated anywhere else. Their resulting graceful, sweeping strikes are much swifter than one might expect from a weapon of that size, with an impressive reach that can be difficult to get inside.

Plutella, Noctuoidea Mage

The head Librarian of the Celestial Scriptorium, Plutella is both a scholar and researcher, as well as a mage. Much like the Geometers of Jebel Irhoud, Plutella studies the movements and phenomena of heavenly bodies. She uses this research to refine her understanding of Divalian magic, which is deeply tied to the Temple of Divalia and therefore the religion of the mothfolk. She gained the position of head Librarian due to her deep knowledge and complex, strong affinity for magic. Because of this, she is in a position of considerable prestige and influence, though she prefers to stay in the library and laboratory complex and focus on her studies.

Lycaenia, Noctuoidea Mage

More interested in scholarly pursuits than in the outside world, Lycaenia is a shut-in who stays in her dusty chambers located at the top of the Celestial Scriptorium’s highest tower, and conducts her research into various magical matters. Injured in a magical explosion that left her disfigured, she wears a helmet to hide her face and head. Despite being the Dean of the Celestial Scriptorium, she rarely, if ever, emerges from her tower, and hasn’t been seen outside the Scriptorium grounds in at least a decade. Known as a mad genius, the Noctuoidea priesthood allow her eccentricities because her research has resulted in the discovery and development of many extremely powerful spells and magical theories which form the backbone of Noctuoidean magic today.

Fluffyhead Moth

Floccephalus moths, commonly known as Fluffyhead moths, are found throughout the Twilight Forest. Their typical size is around 4-6 feet in length, though some specimens have been recorded up to 8 feet. Feeding mainly on tree sap and the juice of rotting fruit, their adult phase is relatively long, lasting between 3 and 4 months. Their cocoons are often harvested for the silk, which is strong and light and typically used for knitting or cordage due to its thickness.
