OpenBox Foundational Models
Inspired by David Malaweyβs OpenBox Project, this idea focuses on creating a library of basic models for utility boxes. These models show different types of utility boxes used in the USA and Canada. They are a helpful starting point for anyone who wants to design and customize their own solutions.
π USA The Raco #666 is a 4β x 2β handy box with a depth of 1-7/8β. It includes seven knockouts (six 1/2β and one 3/4β) and a raised ground screw:
π Canada The TradeSelect #1110-CN is a compact utility box with a depth of 1-7/8β and a capacity of 16.5 cubic inches. It features a raised ground screw for secure grounding and a 1/2β knockout.
The TradeSelect #52171K is a 4β square utility box with a depth of 2-1/8β and a capacity of 30 cubic inches. Designed for versatile wiring applications, it includes a raised ground screw and concentric knockouts for 1/2β and 3/4β conduit sizes:
The TradeSelect #72171K is a larger utility box measuring 4-11/16β square with a depth of 2-1/8β and a capacity of 42 cubic inches. It features a raised ground screw and concentric knockouts for 1/2β and 3/4β conduits.
The Iberville #BC2020-VP is a 4β square utility box with a depth of 2β and a capacity of 21 cubic inches.
