Cargo Modular System Updates
What’s New?
The built-in stoppers on our Rail Tiles worked great for keeping Cargo Containers locked in place, but as we kept testing and using the system ourselves, we realised that if a full row of containers was locked edge-to-edge, the end stoppers could be tricky to access without extra tools - so we’ve made a few small but important updates.
The Rail Tiles now have larger side cutouts, making it much easier to unlock the stoppers even when containers are blocking access from above. We’ve also added a new Easy Access option for our Frames, with a built-in slot for reaching those edge stoppers where needed.
After a lot of trial and error, we’ve also fine-tuned the stopper tolerances to make them even easier to use straight off the print bed.
You can download all the latest files from our Thangs page now!
What about Compatibility?
The core of the Rail Tiles and Frames hasn’t changed, so the updated versions fully interconnect with the previous versions. You can keep building your wall using the new Rail Tiles and choose between the original flat Frames or the new Easy Access Frames wherever they make the most sense.
New Download Layout
We’re also starting to roll out a cleaner and simpler file structure across the Cargo System downloads to make getting started way more straightforward.
From now on, each download will include:
- A Ready to Print .3mf project
- A dedicated User Guide
- Where relevant, an Extras .zip folder containing optional or archived parts for that specific model
Rather than being overloaded with a bunch of separate STL files, everything is now organised into a single print project to make setup and printing much easier. And if you ever need an individual STL, you can simply open the .3mf file in a compatible slicer, right-click the part you want, and export it as an STL.
The updated layout and User Guide system are already rolling out across the latest Cargo releases.
What’s Next?
We’re finalising a few last updates to the current Cargo lineup, then we’ll be moving onto the next exciting stage of the system. So stay tuned, there’s more coming very soon!
