The idea around this is amazing but I wish there was a bit more information about construction. I just spent an hour signing up to Discord and trying to work out what on earth I do to see how this project goes together and I can't work it out (Discord or the model). My slicer just gives me every tiny bit as a separate piece and I'm not sure exactly what everything is or if my slicer has done something wrong and some parts should actually be connected.
This thing is absolutely gorgeous! I just finished printing and assembling mine and I love it. I do feel like the hinges are gonna break on me if I open it too fast, though. I may just be paranoid on that.
Having trouble printing the back piece with the hinges. I have tried multiple orientations with multiple styles of supports. What do you recommend for printing this piece?
I just used matterhackers grey, and brown, nothing fancy. But be creative. think about what you want, like you could do the frame in black, and the panels in glow in the dark. Making a ghostly treasure chest from beyond the veil.
A great model. Can you print it completely in individual parts or are there parts that absolutely have to be printed together so that you can put the box together at the end?
They are all parts, it's modular so I can expand it with accessory packs, like cannon ball dented wood, more ornate part swap outs. This is the base we are working with. The standard ;)
No matter how I place the piece with the hinges, the slicer always detects a floating region and the print fails because it's trying to print part of the second layer on air. Any tips?
You mean to tell me that I can print all these pieces and assemble them?? You think I'm smart enough to do that?! Or is this a print the whole thing in place with a bunch of supports type of thing?
Oh goodness no, there are virtually no supports on this model. The hinges are print in place. Assembly is quite easy. A lot of the parts are universal. Assembling is incredibly easy. It's uploaded in a 3mf format, and in your slicer you can separate the parts for easy printing. Join the discord if you're having trouble, but try it. I doubt you'll have an issue.
Gotta know your slicer a bit to be able to print this. As the designer said, you can split the chest up in objects and then move it around a bit. To print the file at 100%, on a Bambu A1, that's about 7 plates of printing to do, but I'm putting the layer lines a bit higher, so it'll only take a day and a half to print entirely.

That turned out fantastic!
Cool! What filaments did you use and how did you finish it to make it look weathered?
Would be nice to have a split out 3MF file to make sure have all the parts aligned properly....
Love this! ❤️
this is sick! cant wait to print!
Muito bom !!
wheres the intructions?

Rotate it manually and sit it flat on the bed, no supports.
Not to mention the entire underside should need supports.
Those handles looks like they'd say otherwise... but im no expert on printing.
This looks awesome! I can't wait to give it a try. Please share what filament was used? When I try to guess, it doesn't turn out quite right.

Genial!!!.
Doe it come with the coins
Yeah, there are free coins on the profile. Absolutely! It's not in this file, but check out the PirateLife account! Download some doubloons here
Awesome!

Finally someone creating a treasure chest that actually isn't a simple toy and can fit a treasure. I like your coin creations as well.
At full size would a 0.6mm nozzle be helpful to speed up printing? Is there much detail to lose?
Sure! This is the base model for future expansions, so details are minimal. You're good to go!

Rotate it manually. Snap to 90 degrees. It will lay flat. I don't know why, auto orient seems to have a problem with the cutouts.
Do you happen to have rough measurements of the interior of the chest?
does this print as one thing?
No, it's a 3mf file. your slicer will split it into individual objects for multi color prints. There are print in place hinges though.
What filament did you guys use? PET-G or PLA?
I used PLA, but various members have used a variety, including some resin prints.
