Moving from 8mm to 6.25mm (Updated Mounting Parts)

An important shift we’ve made in the last few weeks is standardizing EVERYTHING to be “On Grid”, as it’s critical for the long term health of the Multiboard system.

And one of the last tweaks is to move from 8mm offset mounts to 6.25mm.

Why? Because 8 mm is not a division of 25mm. Which actually makes it SUPER hard to design some of the upcoming concepts on a “magic number“ (8mm came from an average of cable head sizes).

You might be asking “DAMN! Do I have to change everything now?”

Long story short… No, you can still get the old 8 mm files here: https://link.Multiboard.io/8mm-legacy

The mounting systems is now populated with the new 6.25mm versions here: https://www.multiboard.io/parts-library/mounting-systems

In fact, I’m personally not going to change my mounts at all. At least not till I'm forced too.

I think the only people who have to change things are those with “fusion” setups — aka, flush mounted and offset mounted boards right next to each other. In that case, having everything aligned on-grid just makes life easier.

If you have any questions, let me know.

Keep Making!
