Final Naming Convention for the MultiBoard Plates
Hey Makers!
About a month ago, we asked for your input on Plate naming. And after hearing your feedback, here’s what we’re going with:
- Multiboard Tiles → MultiBoard Octagon Plate
- Multibin Plates → MutiBoard Square Plate
They are both “Plates” because they are based on the same geometry.
We’re also introducing the term “Interfitted” for Plates that have the small thread holes on their outer border.
Here’s a diagram showing how the naming works:
Here’s an example of a full name:
- 8x8 MU - Top Left Grid Interfitted - MultiBoard Octagon Plate
All MultiBoard Plates are now grouped into a single library section 👉 https://beta.multiboard.io/multiboard-plates
The Square Plates are used in both MultiBoard and MultiBin, so they can also be found in both “MultiBoard Plates” and “MultiBin Grids” sections.
As with any naming change, this may sound strange in the beginning, but you’ll pick it up fast.
And remember, you don’t need to memorize anything. The library is visual, and you’ll learn the names naturally as you build.
Keep Making!
PS - We’re still working on renaming some parts on Thangs, descriptions, knowledge hub and a few other parts in the library.
And we’re going to release more versions of the Square Plates, like multi-material stacks, better ironing stacks and more sizes.
We should have it all done in the coming weeks.
