Thanks for the model, it looks fantastic. Used grey PLA, no issues with the print or assembly.

I mixed the standard rail pots with the dovetail mount so that I can water them more easily! I had to design the male part of the dovetail myself inferring from the mount. I sliced the pot in half and mirrored it, then just unioned it with the dovetail piece. Added a .2mm tolerance gap. Turned out really nicely! The dark spots around the dovetail mount area is graphite lubricant dust, usually used for door locks, but works nicely as a dry lubricant for plastic parts that slide like this.

Hi, I had problems with the print. I used the recommended settings, however, the bottom part came out wrong, what could it be? Another question, the screws, can they be made longer? so they can fit better against a slightly thinner stick. Thank you very much.

Have you tried calibrating your filament? The A1 should have no problems printing these perfectly with the included settings. I've printed a bunch of these on my A1.

For the set screws, there are 3 sizes currently available for 1 inch, 25mm, and 23mm dowels. Are you using a dowel smaller than 23mm?

Andrés D

I've tried several more times, with different filaments, layer heights, and speeds, and I'm still having the same problem. It always prints incorrectly, like a line all the way around the pot, right in the middle of the pendant. I need help, please.

It's not about filament type, layer height, or speed. Use the calibration top tab in Bambu Studio and go through the entire process for your filament. Your filament also looks wet and I'd suggest you get the moisture down.

What is this line in the model? I assume it's a seam or something, but why is it not straight? This is quite obvious on the plain printed pot and doesn't look very good. Can this be fixed as it appears to be in a lot of models. Some it's on the inside which is ok, but this is on the outside and is very visible when printed.

This looks very cool, I printed it out and love it! However my Wife says that the smaller planter is way to small, 7cm diameter... Do you scale it up? Or are you happy with the original size? Also if I print this out of PLA and place it outside, or a window like you did, where it will get a lot of sun, how long can the PLA last?

I'm planning on making some major updates to The Rail in the next month or so and will be including more planter sizes! I've had mine next to my window (which gets a ton of sun) for about 9 months now and haven't had any issues with the matte PLA. If you're using it outside I'd probably recommend PETG though.

Just asking if there is another rod - would be nice to make the 3d printed rod longer with a middle section.

Is the old style of this with tyhe standard cylindrical shape still available? I found you through instagram and the cylindrical shaped pots and would love the stl for the cylindrical shaped pots :) Thank you for thehard work you do :)

There are 3 set screws. One called Set Screw.stl and then you have Set Screw for 25/23mm Dowel.stl. So what are meant to use the regular set screw for? I have 25mm (measured 25.2mm) steel pipe and when i use the 25mm set screw it does not clamp at all. I need to use the one just called set screw. Also non of the set screws fit in the wall bracket. I reprinted the wall brackets several times and non can fit a set screw.

These came out amazing! where would you recommend getting the wooden dowel from?

I love the design. But I printed it and do have the issue, that using a 2.5cm wood dowel does not hold up. The setscrews do not hold properly and the dowel can still slide around. Had to use wood screws to bond it all together in the end. Very sad.

Can you do a bracket that allows for mounting the dowel from top and bottom (instead of side)?

Is it possible to lengten the screws? Apparently in the area where I live it's either 23mm or 28mm dowel. Otherwise great design!

Interesting! I have a set screw for 25mm dowels but can make a longer one for 23mm dowels if that's what you're planning on using!

I would like to get a screw for a 23mm dovel! I just printed the 25mm dovel screw and need an extra 2mm, or preferably 2,5-3mm.

Just added it! File name is "Set Screw for 23mm Dowel". Let me know if it works out for you!

I don’t recommend this. It could use so many improvements. Threads aren’t a good fit, edges are too sharp, this is basic design and it doesn’t worth paying for.

Brian H
LoftedGoods

Sorry to hear that! I've just updated the threads and they work much better now.

Dovetail adapter for the rail would be appreciated.

There is one here!

I'd love for you to update all of your pots to be dovetail compatible (and also at least 2 sizes). There's a few that still aren't and they happen to be the ones my wife wants me to print. So I've had to import them into CAD and modify myself.

Brian H
LoftedGoods

Which ones specifically? All of my wall mounted planters are compatible with this dovetail adapter

What is the thread size and pitch?

Sebastian W
wojton.sebastian

Anyone having issues with screws threads being too tight. In slicer I scaled them screws to 98% and they fit perfectly. You can also scale only X,Z axis and leave Y at 100% to not make thread shorter. I hope that would help.

Has anyone succesfully printed these using a wood PLA? Got one set printed but the lower portion will not fit into the upper.

I'm having thread issues. None of them thread right

I'm having a lot of issues with the threads for the screws, they always print bigger and sharper than what it's needed, any recommendation?

Panic

I'm having the same issue, lots of printing issues with the wall brackets and threads of the screws, doesn't appear to want to work - I'm using the same printer & filament too!

could you please add some longer screws for a 25mm dowel? would be great, cause I can't find any 25,4mm dowel in austria..

Brian H
LoftedGoods

There is a set screw for 25mm dowels available!

After loads and loads of testing... I've printed about 10 different sets of the brackets and set screws, the normal set screws go into the bracket, the 25mm ones you included don't, can you possibly have a look please!
