This keeps evolving
BOXY: https://than.gs/m/1252577
I set myself the goal to print a massive amount of BOXY to basically reorganize everything in my workshop and home. The reason for that is that I really want to make this system as good and smooth as possible – so being my own power user helps. Like with my notebook – if I use the things a lot it eventually will become really great.
After printing like 50 Boxes, I summarized my learnings and turned them into a few improvements. I will document these from now on here: https://than.gs/pr/249542
The tray prints came out bad sometimes and looked a little more filament that I wanted. I have already tried to combine the Ring and Tray into one thing but had no success. It always needed support, which is a no-go. It finally hit me when I stared at the things long enough that I could print it in two parts that nap together. So, the tray is now a inlay for the ring.
I also came up with a second set of connectors that are way stronger. Since the first iteration was only meant for drawers, they were kind of loose to be able to disassemble quickly. With the newer and stronger connectors, you can now safely stack up really high.
A couple of more things have changed but everything is backwards compatible. I made the bigger boxes thicker, but the Rim is the same as before so you can stack them with the small and thinner one.
This project is really taking up a lot of brain space but I think this is going in a very interesting direction! As you might have seen the files are not the “Base set” – already hinting on the first expansion pack that will come very soon!
Have fun printing
