I printed this once when it first released and again since it’s been updated. I have to say, I love the updates made. The coins fall and spin so much smoother now. I run into a lot less issues with coins now. Me and the kids love it. I used Bambu matte Dark green for the leaves, Overture Dark brown for the stems and “dirt”, and Bambu marble for the top part of the pot and Bambu matte late brown for the bottom color.

A lot of people ask me if I really printed this plant because it doesn't look printed. They are all amazed and if they see the possibility to add money they get even more excited!

It's so satisfying watching my spare change drop swirl down into the pot at the bottom! Haven't gotten dimes to work yet but tilting the fig slightly back is enough to penny drops and swirls like the quarters and nickles! Really fun print!

Can you increase the trunk gap so the Aussie coins can fit? Most dollar coins are 3-4mm thick.

I reprinted the dirt and changed the orientation a bit it works great now . Don’t print the leaves pointing up if your having problems (you will go mad) I rotated them 90 degrees with one of the long edges down and add rafts and supports. Watch the hole on them that connects to the stem, it’s a pain to get the support out without splitting the hole. P1S was able to print all a full size. I am pleased.

Doesn't work to well with Australian coins. Only 5c and 10c are thin enough. Still SO MUCH FUN though. Thanks

I am also having issues printing the leaves. I have an A1 Mini, so I separated the leaves to fit my plate. 1st print was overnight, woke up to a giant spaghetti mess. The second time, I printed just the top leaf, and it fell over at 30%. I haven't had any adhesion issues with my printer til now.

These leaves are a big test to how your settings and prep matter. I use the Bambu textured plate and mine fell over about two-thirds into the print. I added a layer of glue, and reduced the brim gap from the 0.02 to zero. I noticed that the gap may have been the issue on mine because the brim was still attached to the bed, but it broke free at the gap. Successful print with those tweaks.

I had issues with the coins falling out of the trunk part way down. I had some "brim" material stuck in there. Putting this here just in case anyone else has the same problem. Once I resolved that it works extremely well now!

Came out beautiful!! My wife finally approves of my 3d printing addiction, thank you!

Has anyone been successful at printing the leaves? I’ve tried now twice and both they fell off the built plate around the 50-60% complete mark. I’ve been putting in the recommended settings and they print beautifully then fall off the build plate.

These leaves test the limits to your settings and prep matter, and the smallest issue will matter. I use the Bambu textured plate and mine fell over about two-thirds into the print. I added a layer of glue, and reduced the brim gap from the 0.02 to zero. I noticed that the gap may have been the issue on mine because the brim was still attached to the bed, but it broke free at the gap. Worked after those changes.

For those looking for the slotted leaf, if you can open the 3MF file, it's in there

When Printing the Dirt(Funnel), how should it be printed - should it be printed with that flat edge on the build plate? or would if be flipped?

Colby G
ForgeCore

Dirt should be printed standing on edge with supports! Needs to be printed that way to get the smooth funnel (:

Will you post what filaments you used? Thank you.

They have been added!

I printed this recently and it looks great however it doesnt really work with euro coins. Many are too thick and sometimes the coins just fall out on the way down the trunk

Any additional tips on the leaves? Following all instructions and they keep failing at about 80% - now trying to print individually to see if that helps. No luck so far. Bambu X1C

Colby G
ForgeCore

Hi, If they keep failing, it is possible that the print head is knocking them over. An easy fix for this would be to increase your z-hop. Printing them individually should also help. Make sure you have really good bed adhesion too. The best way to ensure this, is to make sure that your build plate is cleaned with dish soap and warm water. Increasing the plate tempeture a few degrees can also help with the adhesion.

The design is lovely. Unfortunately it does not work with 1 or 2 euros €, not does 50 cent work. Only 10 cent and 5 cents.

I am fairly new to 3d printing (since December) I have an a1mini and it is so hard to tell what I can and cannot print on it. Somethings i know can be sized down, but then don't work when you do. Also do not have ams, I really wish more designer would make prints in parts, and even when they do you can't tell. You always show beautiful designs and some (not many) show printing in parts. as a consumer (and paying memberships) it would be so nice if these things were in the printed description.

I have attempted to print the leafs 4 times now and each time about half way through they come off the print bed. Using a Bambu Labs A1 printer. Did a cleaning on the plate using dawn then rubbing alcohol. Using the .3mf so all settings are done. I tried to separate the leafs further apart and widen the brim and still nothing. I also slowed the printer down once it started printing to 50% and they still popped off halfway through. Any tips or tricks on what else to try? The pot came out great.

Colby G
ForgeCore

Bed slinger style printers may have a harder time with all the leaves at once.

Split the leaves to objects, and try printing just 1 at a time. See how that goes. Printing 1 at a time should go much smoother on your printer

T
tlmy87

I was watching it and at layer 527 the nozzle strikes the leaf and knocks it off the bed. Any thoughts on what would cause that out of the blue at that layer?

T
tlmy87

I did try one at a time and it failed. I am going to attempt again with some glue and a single leaf. Love the design and it was the reason I joined and will not let it defeat me. Also noticed a comment after I posted from Bjeep about the brim gap and some adjustments so will tinker around with that as well. Thanks so much for the reply. Also I am printing with a textured plate should I be using a cool plate instead for something like the leaves?

T
tany.nazaru

Well, I've got to say something, tried to print it on my a1, out of 20 times i tried like 2 didnt fail, (Talking about leaves), i would say this model is pretty bad because of it

Colby G
ForgeCore

Sorry to hear that. This is an advanced model, so it may take some practice to get the leaves printing perfectly. That said, please make sure you are using plenty of glue on the plate. The leaves are tall and skinny and can fall over if bed adhesion is not good.

You can test by printing 1 leaf at a time in order to avoid failures. To get a single leaf, split the leaf group apart. Like this: Right Click > Split > To objects.

Then you can print 1 leaf at a time to get the hang of things (:

The pot doesn't fit on my bed at full size. I have to resize to 84% to get it to fit. Do I just need to resize everything by the same to make it work?

Colby G
ForgeCore

This is a large design, so its recommended to use a build plate of 250mm or larger.

Braden S
The Oliver Brown

I have noticed that the plant is a little top-heavy and snaps off the pot very easily. Have to play with the infill a little more as it doesn't seem to be strong enough. Otherwise, this is one of my favorite designs!

Joseph B
fantasygachapon

I've printed this whole thing and it works maybe 15% of the time. Most of the time it falls out on the way down the trunk. Have I done something wrong? I also have issues with it clearing nickles. The nickles snag in the trunk as well.

Thanks in advance

Colby G
ForgeCore

Quarters and Nickles works from the top. If your dime is snagging, there may be a little burr to clean up. Dimes and pennies should be put on the root at the bottom.

How is the dirt supposed to be oriented

Josh A
joshanthony740

in the 3mf it was oriented on its side (vertically) - it printed pretty quickly this way for me

Dorky D

What type of build plate do you use? The top leaf with your 3mf keeps getting knocked over. The only thing that I can think that would be different is the build plate...

Colby G
ForgeCore

I use the Bambu Cool plate.

Josh A
joshanthony740

I've always seen them using the Bambu Cool PLA plate. I printed the 3mf leaf plate on a Bambu Textured PEI plate with no issue. I've found a bit of Magigoo adds just the right amount of adhesion.

Bryan D
BJeep

I use the Bambu textured plate and mine fell over about two-thirds into the print. I added a layer of glue, and reduced the brim gap from the 0.02 to zero. I noticed that the gap may have been the issue on mine because the brim was still attached to the bed. Printed fine after that.

can you keep making cool plants like this (i made a comment on the venus snacktrap for more info)

Colby G

Yes, got some things coming out! Glad you like them

Raymond T

Are there specific instructions for printing the track trunk? It looks like you could almost get away without using supports but I imagine you'd want some in there if you're using a bedslinger like me.

Colby G
ForgeCore

Print it upside-down using tree supports
