Not So XL Reaper

XL & Not So XL Reaper Assembly Instructions Before You Begin Thank you for downloading the XL or Not So XL Reaper. Please read these instructions before starting assembly.

  • Glue is required for the final assembly. However, I always recommend doing a complete dry fit first so you become familiar with where every part goes. Some pieces will not stay in place without glue.
  • The XL and Not So XL versions are the same model, but the connector tolerances have been adjusted to suit their different scales. Both versions are also pre-scaled to fit their intended build plates.
  • You are welcome to scale the model larger or smaller. If you reduce the size further, you may need to reduce the connector size by an additional 1–2% to maintain a good fit.
  • If you plan to display the model outdoors, I recommend printing it in PETG. For very hot climates, ABS or ASA may be a better choice.
  • This model uses a single connector size throughout.
  • Whenever I refer to the left or right side, this is from the Reaper's perspective, not from the person looking at it. Filaments Used
  • Bambu Basic Black
  • Bambu Matte Bone White
  • Bambu Light Grey
  • Bambu Chocolate Brown Supports Some parts require supports. These are already enabled in the supplied 3MF files. For easier support removal, I recommend setting the Top Z Distance to 0.275 mm. After printing, make sure every support is completely removed from all connector holes before assembly. Connector Fit If you find any connectors are slightly tight, this is usually on parts that required supports. Reducing the connector size by 1–2% will normally solve the issue. Connector fit can vary depending on several factors, including:
  • Printer calibration
  • Filament type
  • Material shrinkage
  • Print settings The supplied connectors are designed as a balance that should work well on most printers. Part Names Before assembly, familiarise yourself with all of the part names, especially the scythe pieces, as several of them are very similar in size. Important The two hands slide onto the sleeves using the built-in connectors. To make these stronger, I have included a built-in modifier that increases the infill in this area. Even with the extra strength, please insert the hands very carefully. They are designed to be a snug fit, so push them into place slowly and gently.

Assembly Step 1 - Base and Boots Insert four connectors into the base where the boots will be fitted. Slide the left and right boots onto the connectors, making sure they are on the correct sides. Step 2 - Lower Body Insert four connectors into the tops of the boots. Slide the lower body onto these connectors. Step 3 - Rope Belt and Upper Body Insert three connectors into the top of the lower body. Slide the rope belt down over these connectors so that it covers approximately half of each connector. Position the upper body onto the remaining exposed sections of the connectors. Step 4 - Arms Insert two connectors into each arm. Attach the left and right arms to the upper body. Step 5 - Hood Insert three connectors into the upper body. Slide the hood into position. Step 6 - Face Insert the following pieces into the face:

  • Left eye
  • Right eye
  • Left nose piece
  • Right nose piece These parts simply slide into place and do not require connectors. Next, insert four connectors into the rear of the face assembly and fit it into the front of the hood. Step 7 - Hands Carefully slide each hand onto the built-in sleeve connectors. Take your time and apply gentle pressure until each hand is fully seated. Do not force the parts. Step 8 - Scythe Lay out the scythe components in order:
  • Scythe Base
  • Part 2
  • Part 3
  • Part 4
  • Blade Pole
  • Pole Top
  • Blade Connector
  • Blade Assemble the handle first by connecting the base, Parts 2, 3 and 4, followed by the blade pole and pole top. Attach the blade using the blade connector. Once assembled, slide the completed scythe into the Reaper's right hand. There is a small locating notch on Part 3 that prevents the scythe from sliding too far through the hand. Step 9 - Graveyard Accessories To complete the scene, place the gravestone and railing accessories onto the base. These parts are designed to fit into their matching locations and can be positioned during your dry fit before being glued permanently into place. Once you are happy with their position, apply a small amount of glue and secure each piece to the base.

Congratulations! Your XL or Not So XL Reaper is now complete. Thank you for your support, and I hope you enjoy displaying your finished model.
