MALLA | key bowl
MALLA | key bowl
Keys. Coins. Sunglasses. One clean drop zone.
An entry drop zone for your keys and daily essentials, with a central holder for sunglasses and small items.
Part of my signature MALLA collection of woven 3D printed objects.
DIMENSIONS | Ø209 mm × H 80 mm
3D PRINT SETTINGS: All STL files are already oriented properly. It can be printed with either a 0.4 or 0.8mm nozzle.
You need to print 2 parts: • a base • a bowl
BASE: It is meant to be printed in vase mode (spiralize or spiral vase).
For 0.8mm nozzle:
- use 0.3 or 0.4mm/layer
- line width of 0.8 to 1mm
- 3 bottom layers
For 0.4mm nozzle:
- use 0.2mm/layer
- line width of 0.6 to 1mm
- 3 bottom layers
Add some fuzzy skin to add some surface texture: • fuzzy skin point distance: 0.8mm • fuzzy skin thickness: 0.3mm.
BOWL • Set the layer height to 0.3mm for a 0.4mm nozzle (ignore the warning if it says you cannot go over 0.28mm/layer) • Or to 0.4mm for a 0.8mm nozzle. (0.2mm would also work but much slower).
The items in the pictures were printed with a 0.8mm nozzle, 2 perimeter lines. But you can also print with a 0.4mm nozzle, in which case you'll get 4 perimeter lines.
On the 3D model, the bottom face of the plates appear full. That's normal. To achieve the woven pattern of those faces you have to: • turn off the top and bottom layers (set to 0) • pick an infill pattern of your choice (gyroid pattern on the pictures) • On top of that, for 0.4mm nozzles, push the "infill line width" (sparse infill and internal infill) to 0.6mm to make the weave of the front face nice and strong • Set the infill to about 35% for a 0.8mm nozzle, and about 30% for a 0.4mm nozzle with 0.6mm infill line width.
Layer height: 0.3 mm Top layers: 0 Bottom layers: 0 Infill pattern: gyroid 30 to 35% Infill line width: 0.6 to 0.8mm Infill-wall overlap: 50% Build adhesion type: None Supports: None
For Bambu Lab users, make sure to:
- turn OFF "slow down for overhangs"
- set "wall generator" to "arachne".
Happy printing!
