This Mars base inspired desk accessory works both as a business card holder and a phone stand in one compact design. The central slot neatly holds a stack of business cards OR, if you prefer that, a phone!It’s a practical piece that keeps important items visible and organized on your desk.

The design takes inspiration from futuristic Mars habitats, featuring small dome structures and a satellite dish element that give the piece the look of a tiny planetary outpost. It turns an everyday desk tool into a miniature sci-fi scene while still keeping the focus on functionality and usability.

This design is also part of a personal challenge I’m doing for the year 2026: designing and releasing a brand new 3D printable model every single day for an entire year. Each design will explore a different idea—some practical, some playful, some reflective. Mars Base Business Card Holder & Phone Stand

-This is a negative part modifier and an STL modifier to use with other base textiles. This is a great method to create appliques in a customizable size. Use the PDF guide to negative modifiers that is included.

In the photo examples, I'm using a dragon con inspired textile (free file - https://than.gs/m/1368954) and a newly uploaded flower textile (https://than.gs/m/1462249) that I've modified with the star modifiers. This is endlessly customizable with different textile, negative modifier, and modifier options. 

There is a video tutorial included that uses bats as the modifiers, but the process is identical.

Happy October! There are two things in this file - a flat pumpkin with a small hole at the top for hanging, and a set of STL files that are used to modify a base textile (see attached PDF guides)

I've also just added a how to guide on using modifiers and textiles - although the examples used are bats, it is the same principal :)

The 3MF included uses the Dragon Con inspired textile (https://than.gs/m/1368954) as the base textile that the pumpkin STL files are modifying. Follow the included PDF guide for more information. There are photo examples of a bracer https://than.gs/m/1425503 and foldable hand fan https://than.gs/m/1324583 included in the images.

This is a base textile that can be printed as is, or paired with negative modifiers to create a 3D printed textile that is ready to be sewn into a finished product. There are multiple sizes that can be loaded in a variety of different build sizes. They can also be used to modify an existing model, as shown with the white and blue TPU prints included in the photos.

There is a pause command that is added at the beginning of layer two, where mesh and magnets can be placed before the print is resumed.  I print at a 35mm/s first layer speed when working with textiles. The 3mf file should have my settings, as well as pause commands (I use Bambu Studio)
