This is a wearable chainmail-style skirt made from printed chain strips hooked to a belt. The kit includes two chain lengths, the belt pieces, and separate files for open rings so you can hook the chains together and form the skirt. It's meant for cosplay, LARP accents, costume photography, or display where a layered chain look is needed. Files are pre-supported so no extra supports or brim are required; print with 0.3 mm layer height as provided. On a single print bed you can fit about 4–5 chains depending on the length option — print as many chains as you want to control how dense the skirt sits. You can trim the belt with pliers to fit your waist and there are several ring/closure options included to fasten the belt. I usually print the parts in PLA for crisp detail or PETG if I want a bit more toughness; minimal infill (10–20%) works fine for the belt pieces.

Printing Settings

IMPORTANT — Chainmail Print Settings Layer height must be set to 0.3mm for BOTH the first layer and all subsequent layers. This model is precisely designed for this layer height to ensure proper adhesion between rings. Using a different layer height may cause print failure. Key Settings:

  • Layer Height: 0.3mm (all layers, including first layer)
  • Supports: Built into the model — do not add additional supports
  • Brim: No
  • Fan Speed: 100% on all layers
  • Wall Generator: Arachne
  • Material: PLA (use DRY filament to avoid stringing between rings)
  • Print Volume: 246x246x14mm Temperature: Finding the right temperature is important. Too low and rings won't adhere properly to each other or the base — thin parts may cool too fast, curl up, and get knocked off by the nozzle. Too high and you'll get over-adhesion, stringing, or poor surface quality. Find the sweet spot for your filament and keep fan at maximum. Troubleshooting: If rings detach mid-print, try enabling Z-lift (0.5mm) to prevent the nozzle from colliding with printed rings during travel moves. Ensure your printer is well-calibrated and the bed is leveled for optimal results. Maintain bed adhesion by keeping the bed clean and free of grease. Use isopropyl alcohol for cleaning and apply adhesive if necessary.
