Kraken is a small, dark brown-black mixed-breed dog, no taller than an adult’s knee. He has a slim build, large pointed ears, warm brown eyes, a curled tail and a distinctive pink collar.

He first appeared near the market in Illtrium on a cold evening, wandering between the stalls in search of food and a safe place to sleep.

Nobody knew where he came from or who he belonged to.

The next morning, Kraken was found curled beneath a bench near the tavern, guarding a piece of old bread. People tried to send him away, but he returned the next day — and the day after that.

Eventually, the locals accepted that Kraken had chosen Illtrium as his new home.

Since then, he has guarded tavern doors, followed travellers through the streets, warned residents about unfamiliar visitors and collected anything that happened to fall from the tables.

Despite his small size, Kraken behaves like a creature capable of protecting the entire city from a sea monster. That is how he earned his unusual name.
