3D model description This is my 3D-printed take on one of the most famous mechanical designs out there — the iris. Inspired by camera shutters and sci-fi doors, this print works beautifully, opening and closing smoothly just like the real thing.

I wanted to challenge myself with something both functional and satisfying to watch/ use. The result is this print-by-part iris mechanism. Super easy assembly and the best part, NO EXTRA TOOLS NEEDED!

The coolest thing? 👉 The entire mechanism is designed to be easy to print and fully functional with super easy assembly. Just print, clean up supports for the central parts, and snap everything together! Soon you will be enjoying the opening and closing! The sound is just marvelous😍

This model consists of several articulated blades and a frame that hold everything together. The design ensures that the blades stay aligned and move in sync without popping out. The pins are a Snap-on fit and they are designed to support the whole model together and I must say they do that very well!

✨ Perfect as a desktop toy, a fidget gadget, or even as a mechanical reference for more complex projects if printed big enough!

3D printing settings Recommended settings:

SUPPORTS NEEDED FOR THE BLADES! Bambu Tree supports work perfectly for this part. I recommend them 100%.

MODEL IS SCALABLE if you have a big printer but frankly I would keep it as it is since fitment could be an issue if changed

Adhesion: Nothing is needed.

Layer height: 0,2 mm is more than enough

Infill: 10 - 15 %. Consider more if you need the sticks to be more resistant

Post -Process: You will need to assemble everything but it is the most simplest thing ever😜 (you can use the pictures as a guide or contact me if there is any issue)
