My newly designed Bender Bending Rodriguez robot, which uses aluminum wire, is of course a model that showcases the full extent of my 3D printing design skills — and I’m really proud of it. However, I still believe that the original Foldable Bender robot, which focused on the folding mechanism, is also a fun and well-designed model in its own right.

That’s why so many people who love this design have sent me numerous requests for improvements. But I hadn’t been able to respond to those requests until now, as I was focused on developing new items.

So finally, I’ve redesigned and released Version 2.0 of the Foldable Bender robot, incorporating the improvements that have been requested over time. I apologize to all the makers out there for the long wait, and thank you for your patience.

Here are the improvements I made in Version 2.0:

The eyes and mouth are now separated by color, and I've added a swappable face system to allow for multiple expressions. Added supports to the arms and legs to prevent them from falling over during printing. The logo has been downsized for a cleaner look, and the mounting hole for the rocket booster on the back has been removed.

Here are some important notes to keep in mind during printing and assembly:

Be sure to remove the added supports completely after printing. The legs can move forward and backward, but depending on the position of the arms, whether the cigar is in the mouth, or if the hands are holding a bottle or gun, it might be difficult to balance the figure properly. After folding the torso, if it doesn’t stay securely in place, feel free to use glue to hold it together.
