Gift Box #17
Gift Box #17 Print-in-Place Version
This is my fourth season making these gift boxes. Each year I design five different versions. They all may look the same from the outside but each one has a different secret way of opening.
This box is a mashup between box #1 and #12. When you turn the bow on this box it rotates a gear pinion which moves in four gear racks retracting catches allowing the top of the box to be removed. A torsion spring in the center keeps the latches closed. This is the print in place version that prints in only two pieces with the bows attached.
The version that allows you to print the bows separately in a different color and glue them on is available here.
Printing Its roughly 100mm x 100m x 80mm tall. The top and bottom prints in place as one part, none of the parts require supports, designed for a .4mm nozzle.
Too much friction? Try PTFE Lubricate Spray(aff). This stuff is amazing and just a little bit will majorly help to smooth the motion.
Printed on the Muldex rep-rap IDEX printer with Jamghe Red PLA.
Other Gift Boxes You can find ALL the other gift boxes in the Puzzle Present Collection.
