Collapsing Lego Lightsaber
Collapsing Lego Lightsaber Replaceable Blade Version
This is a 10:1 scale of the Lego Lightsaber with a collapsing blade. It has a screw on cap so the blade can be printed separately then inserted or replaced. I did make the blade a little longer because at 10 times scale it would only have been 12.5” long. If you do want it to scale it will be more durable too. Just print the blades in vase mode and increase the line width.
Supports are not required, for best results use a .4mm nozzle. You can print the blades all at once concentrically or one at a time in vase mode. Find detailed instructions on how to print collapsing swords on my website.
There were some reports of air being trapped so I added a version of the cap with a hole. I also added a double caps so you can put two lightsabers together. Printed on the Mulcore rep-rap IDEX printer.

I'm having trouble getting some of the overhangs to print correctly. At approximately 19.28mm, 47.24mm, 62.38mm, and 125.99mm from bottom. The chamfer doesn't come all the way out to the edge causing an overhang. I have tried using variable layer height, smaller layers (0.2, 0.1, 0.16) and all produce the same issue. Would it be possible to modify the hilt to bring the chamfer out to the edges at those heights? It would fix the issue? I will do it for you if you have the files in a CAD format.
