Gyroid Shoe Conceptual Design - It actually is better than expected. I used generic Amazon Basics TPU with 2 perimeters, 2% gyroid infill and printed it at a 45° angle to fit it on my bed and make the inside supportless. It fits reasonably well after I scaled it but I would have some suggestions. Especially the part where the shoe meets the midfoot, it tends to be quite sharp, but fits pretty nicely, so I think that a longer tounge-like section would really make it wearable. Also, to wear it, I had to cut the inside, so some sort of "V" cutout in that section would be pretty nice. I also believe that the toe section has maybe 5-7 mm too much height(at 110mm model height). Maybe a more exciting profile might be cool too. Sadly I am pretty poor at manipulating STL files, otherwise I would make a remix of it. I hope I was not being too direct :). Very cool project! - 3d model

This conceptual shoe design demonstrates how nTopology can be used to incorporate complex triply period minimal surfaces (TPMS) into CAD objects. See here for video: https://youtu.be/yAXaCHmYq3g

The basic structure of the shoe is designed parametrically in Onshape.

Three different orientations of the gyroid TPMS are incorporated into the upper, midsole and outsole using nTopology’s conformal cell maps. Thickening and blending of boundary edges are done using field driven design.
