Parametric Vertical Mounted Multiboard Bins

Update: I tried updating this with all 512 preconfigured bin sizes and styles and he page lagged out. so I've left 3 sample files as the preview models and attached everything else including the fusion 360 file in a zip file instead. this page is still giving me errors though so i've added a backup on printables

Update 2: I Updated the Parametric file since there was an issue with the offsets moving the mounting points away from the center

A parametrized F3D file for you to generate your own custom bins as well as an assortment of preconfigured ready-to-print bins and sleeves for your multiboard

  • Files are named for their dimension sizes X,Y, and Z
  • Pre-configured models range from size 1-4 for each dimension
  • if you need bigger/custom sizes use the f3d file to generate one
  • a size is a multiple of 25mm ( a 3x2x4 bin is 75mm wide, 50 mm long, and 100mm high) There are 2 main types of files Bins (with bottoms) and Sleeves (no bottoms). (see attached pictures) as well as 4 included styles (Sharp Corners, Chamfered, Front Dip, and Hex)

need to holster something with a long handle like a hammer, pliers or a wrench? use a sleeve (no bottoms) Just need a quick box to hang up a tool use a sharp corner or chamfered bin Need to see the top of whatever it is you're storing? use a Front Dip Bin Need to see inside the box? use a hex bin

Print Settings Regular bins: 15% Infill, 3 walls, No supports Hex Pattern bins: 15% Infill, 3 walls, Supports needed for horizontal overhangs at the top of the model (or change the hex pattern to be smaller)

Mounting This was primarily designed for use with Multiboard and "small thread" bolts. I personally use 13mm Small Thread T Bolts which conveniently fits in the rectangular cutout for easy mountng and unmounting. That said any small thread bolts will do. Updated Mounting Pegboard Clicks: https://than.gs/m/999811 (my favorite so far) Push Fit: https://than.gs/m/999815 MultiConnect: https://www.printables.com/model/746508-multiconnect-adapter (best for easy removal and re-mounting)

There is also a MountingTolerance parameter (default 0.1mm for my printer tolerance) which can be changed to suit your printer settings if you need a more flush, loose, or tighter fit on your bolts

Makes Please do upload makes! i'd love to see if anyone will find this useful :)

Cross Compatibility There is an option to change the hole size on the mounting point, the base dimension size (default 25mm for multiboard) and other mounting options on the F3D file which should allow you to mount this on other surfaces like a standard 1-inch spaced pegboard from your hardware store (change base to a multiple of 25.4mm). If using bigger bolts, make sure to change the OffsetX and OffsetZ Parameters to a sufficiently large value to allow you to fit both the hole and the bolt/peg you're using. By default, mounting point hole centers are 12.5mm away from each corner

The F3D File The F3D file takes in as parameters X Y and Z dimensions as well as if the bin is bottomless (1) or not (0) Open the file in Fusion 360 > head to Design > Modify > Change Parameters

There are also other parameters that allow you to change mounting hole angle orientation, wall thickness, front wall dip, front edge chamfers, mounting point thickness, etc. (play around with the settings and see which you like)

Custom Sizes

  • you can change X Y Z params to get a bin size that's a multiple of the base measurement (default 25). You can also get custom bin sizes by changing the OffsetX, OffsetY, OffsetZ Params
    • i.e. for an 86x27x72 bin just do X:3, Y:1, Z:2, OffsetX: 11, OffsetY:2, OffsetZ: 22
    • Negative numbers will work for the size but will cause the mounting holes to not line up.
  • You can also change the Thickness parameter to change the wall width. Default is 3mm
