these prostheses scaled at roughly 60% (30cm transtibial, 53cm transfemoral height) can be printed for educational purposes.

the design is optimized for fdm print but could be printed otherwise for more longterm durability. parts resemble real prosthetic parts in regards of their function and can be adjusted to primarily educate about proper biomechanic and physiological alignment without tools. in case you want to screw all around use the shift adapter twice on the transtibial prosthesis (shorten the tube at your convenience). this will need an additional screw.

for assembly use the provided screws and hex-connectors. some glue is necessary to connect the tube with the non shiftable tube adapter, the insertion of the knee rod into the knee spring, and recommended for the assembly of the foot and the socket.

in case you want to scale up for more realistic dimensions be aware this may also affects gaps and tolerances (e.g. threads). on the other hand i tested an adapter, tube and screw at 150% without issues. but it increases the volume and material mass by factor 3.3 so keep that in mind.

for the love of everything: do not use this as a medical prosthetic device for real patients!

indended part list transtibial:

  • 1 transtibial socket
  • 1 socket pyramid
  • 1 shift adapter pyramid part
  • 1 shift adapter tube part
  • 1 tube
  • 1 tube pyramid adapter
  • 1 foot pyramid
  • 1 medial spring
  • 1 lateral spring
  • 3 hex connectors
  • 11 screws

indended part list transfemoral:

  • 1 transfemoral socket
  • 1 socket pyramid
  • 1 knee ball
  • 1 knee rod
  • 1 knee cylinder
  • 1 knee spring
  • 1 knee case
  • 1 knee screw (has a longer shoulder)
  • 1 knee rod axis
  • 1 knee cylinder axis
  • 1 tube
  • 1 tube pyramid adapter
  • 1 foot pyramid
  • 1 medial spring
  • 1 lateral spring
  • 3 hex connectors
  • 12 screws

PLUS

  • 1 double adapter

OR to have more adjustment possibilities

  • 1 shift adapter pyramid part
  • 1 shift adapter tube part
  • 1 tube pyramid adapter short
  • 2 additional screws

e.g. pla, pla+ for transfemoral (springs and leverage forces) 5 walls, top and bottom layer 25% infill (for strength), 100% infill for the knee joint spring

transtibial parts need brims but not neccessarily support. knee parts need support (tree). removing support from the spring is a pita but works out in the end.
