Strange attractors are hidden patterns that show up in systems that seem completely chaotic, like the weather, a swinging pendulum, or water flowing in a river. They are represented by a system of three differential equations that describe how a particle would move if “dropped” into the system. 

This abstract sculpture traces the path of a particle “dropped” into the Aizawa Attractor system. Download includes a supported and unsupported version.

The Aizawa attractor is a three-dimensional strange attractor famous for generating a highly structured, organic shape that resembles a hollow sphere penetrated by a tube or funnel-like structure along its central axis. Unlike the sprawling, dual-lobed wings of the Lorenz attractor, the Aizawa attractor weaves a tightly bounded, symmetrical geometry that looks strikingly like a spinning top, a torus energy field, or a complex fluid vortex.

Key characteristics of strange attractors include:

- Fractal Structure: Strange attractors have a non-integer dimension, meaning they possess intricate self-similar patterns at different scales. This fractal nature contributes to their complex geometry.   

- Sensitivity to Initial Conditions: A defining feature of strange attractors is their sensitivity to initial conditions. Even tiny differences in the starting state of the system can lead to vastly different trajectories over time. This phenomenon is often referred to as the "butterfly effect." This means that two points on the attractor that are near each other at one time will be arbitrarily far apart at later times.   

- Chaotic Behavior: Strange attractors are associated with chaotic dynamics, where the system's behavior is unpredictable in the long term, despite being deterministic. This means that the system's future state is entirely determined by its initial conditions and governing equations, yet it is practically impossible to predict its exact trajectory due to the sensitivity to initial conditions.   

True to the nature of chaos theory, if you change the starting coordinates by even a fraction of a millimeter, the particle will take a completely unique path through the space. However, no matter how chaotic the individual journey is, it will always remain trapped within this beautiful, ghostly geometric outline, never crossing its own path and never escaping the system.

This Crystal Lamp fits standard puck lights and is designed to maximize translucency.

Print the “Crystal Cluster” files one at a time in Spiralized or Vase mode. Spiralized mode creates smooth and consistent walls with no z-seam.

Print the “Crystal Cluster Base” and “Rocky Base” with standard settings.

Use a small amount of glue to secure the “Crystal Clusters” into the “Crystal Cluster Base”. Each crystal has a specific shaped hole in the base. Do not force crystals into the wrong holes!

Insert your lighting electronics into the “Rocky Base”. The “Rocky Base” will fit all standard puck lights including IKEA, Bamboo kit lights, and battery powered puck lights with diameter up to 90mm in diameter and 30mm in height.

Is it a star? Is it a heart? This fascinating model can't make up it's mind! This strange shape looks like two completely different objects from two distinct perspectives. With a mirror, you can see both perspectives simultaneously. Truly mind-blowing!

This is my variation of [Kokichi Sugihara's](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1pLuLT4m-Wfs2pZjdahb4A) Ambiguous Cylinder Illusion, featuring a star and heart appearance. I printed it using [MatterHackers Quantum PLA](https://bit.ly/quantumPLA) to achieve the amazing color changing effect!

The download includes a printable stand and a few versions of the model:

For the included supports, I has success printing at 0.12mm layer height. Smaller layer height should significantly improve the top surface.

Ambiguous Star to Heart Illusion

This is a 50% scaled, string version, of the Gibson ES-335TD 12-string guitar, circa 1966. The strings are all printed in place and it is purely decorative. I have also designed a stand for it to be displayed on.

It is an exclusive for members.

I have included the stl files (as zipped folders) and the Bambu Studio 3mf files.

If you are using the stls the guitar prints in four pieces: body front, body back, neck front and neck back. It should be printed at 0.24mm layer height the wall generator set to Arachne.

**Phoney Cactus** - _Intermediate_ 

I designed this Moon Cactus Phone Stand in collaboration with [Jankmart](https://thangs.com/designer/jankmart)

The Moon Cactus isn't actually a real cactus. It is actually two cactuses that get cut and grafted together by humans. And since that sounds very unnatural, we decided to play into the unnaturalness by turning it into a mechanical phone stand. 

You turn the cactus into a phone stand by lifting it out of the dirt, and untwisting in a satisfying motion! That way you can always have a phone stand where you need it without having something ugly sitting on your table / desk.

The model is assembled with 4 screws. We wanted to make it fully 3D printable but the screws make it feel way more secure and strong than the purely 3d printed version. 

Print the top "flower" (Scion) with any color of your choosing!

Wood Style Jewellery (or key/coin) Plates

So if you've been paying attention to my socials, you'll pick up that I'm currently obsessed with the book 'When the Moon Hatched' by Sarah A Parker. This piece is inspired by that book.

I put this up on Etsy a few days ago, and got a bunch of sales immediately - so for those of you who have shops, this could be a good one for you! Tag it as 'inspired by When the Moon Hatched' lol!

I've provided a 0.04mm version (zipped file attached) and a 0.08mm version (this model), the first takes about 7 hours the second takes about 3.5, with no real differences that I could see!

The 3MF files will have all necessary settings and swaps included. If you do not use the 3MF, please follow the instructions below (for 0.08mm height). If you're using the 0.04mm model, the instructions are in the zip folder :) 

**Print Instructions**
Print at 100% infill with a layer height of 0.08mm with a base layer of 0.2mm

 The Model is 200x200mm in size
 You may print at higher layer heights below the Min Depth of 0.6mm
 The Max Depth is 2.2mm and the Actual Depth is 2.3mm

- PLA Chrominal Chestnut Brown Transmission Distance: 3.5

Hey,
the Gear Cube is not my original idea. The concept seems to be older than 2010. The first printable version I could find is by Emmett on Thingiverse.

**You need:**
4 Big Gears
4 Small Gears
8 Connectors
1 Heart
There is also an "All" File that has everything you need.
Print the files in the "Updated" Folder. They are better and allow for troubleshooting. The Original is just there if anyone who has printed it needs spare parts.

**Print settings:**
No supports needed. Just print with a standard profile. I used a brim for better bed adhesion.

Push the connectors into the heart and then put the gears on top. This one is a little tricky since the gears are variable sizes. You need to connect the ball just like in the picture when it’s a ball. Make sure you assemble the big gears first and that they form half a ball. Then put in the small gears. Use the pictures as guidance.

**Troubleshooting:**

The Connectors fall out:
Scale them in your slicer until they fit. I would start with 102%.

The Connectors Break:
I did include stronger connectors in the "Troubleshooting" folder. The higher you go from 1-5, the stronger they get. You can also try printing them in a different filament. Many people had success by using PETG for them; I still use PLA.

The Gears are too tight or too loose:

**Technical Data:**
The Gear Cube takes around 65g of filament and 3 hours to print.
