Magnetic Snap Clutch
This is a print in place, on fabric model. It requires a build plate size of 235 x 250, but 256x256 is preferred. There is a 3mf file to use that has my settings, or you can load in particular STL Fles that you prefer and adjust the settings yourself. Please refer to the 3D Printing on fabric guide for reference.
Update - 7/15/25 - A new model has been uploaded that can be printed as a privacy screen. There is a text block that can be modified, and a PDF guide that you can follow to do so. Update - 7/16/25 - A new 3mf file has been uploaded, in addition to 3 new stl files with the Marriott/Dragoncon Carpet inspired textile.
This file is printed at a .24mm layer height with a .4mm nozzle. It requires 1 piece of mesh fabric to be places after the pause command at layer 2, held down by magnets. It also uses 4 @ 60mm x 10mm x 3mm bar magnets. These are not necessary but aid in security. I like using a little bit of super glue to ensure the magnets aren't attracted to the hotend. There is a clasp that will hold the clutch firmly in place. To open, apply a small amount of pressure on the side with the indentation in it to relieve some pressure from the closure.
You can further customize this clutch by using the STL files that are meant for adding in your own textile using the included negative modifier. Please refer to the 3D printed magnetic snap clutch instructional guide for more info.

do you have links for magnets and chain straps u used for the stl ,? thanks !
A link to the magnets are in the PDF that are included with the download! You can also fit multiple small round magnets in the hole as well, as confirmed by another member :D The chain straps were something along this line - https://a.co/d/iR2HrHU
I love the concept! However, could your cards get demagnetized by the 4 magnets in the print?
Great question! New cards and phones are generally not susceptible to magnets. Much has been improved with card technology :)
I love this print, but it's not big enough for my phone in a slim case. (iPhone 15 pro max) The large arc clutch fits my phone, but nothing else. Any plans for larger bags? I'm ok with it printing in halves and assembling with a hinge pin or something. I need to fit my phone, a lipstick, and my car key fob at a minimum. Thank you!!
