Rotor Lamp
A minimalist table lamp built around a simple yet interactive concept: light control through rotation.
The design consists of two main parts: a base and a hollow cylindrical diffuser that rests horizontally on top of it. A circular opening in the cylinder aligns with the light source housed inside the base, allowing light to enter the diffuser and illuminate it from within.
By gently rotating the cylinder with your hand, the opening moves away from the light source, progressively reducing the amount of light entering the diffuser. This creates a simple and satisfying way to adjust the lamp's brightness while turning the lamp itself into an interactive object.
The lamp is designed to work with the Bambu Lab LED Lamp Kit 001, which can be easily inserted into the base from below.
The clean geometry, smooth movement, and customizable colors make it suitable for desks, bedside tables, shelves, and modern interiors. Experiment with different material combinations to create unique lighting moods, from soft ambient glow to more focused illumination.
_All parts are designed for straightforward printing without supports.
Print the base in its standard orientation. The cylindrical diffuser should be printed vertically to achieve the best surface quality and maintain the circular geometry. A layer height of 0.20 mm works well for all parts, although larger layer heights can be used to reduce print time.
The design offers many customization possibilities. Darker filaments and additional wall lines can help block light from passing through the base, while lighter colors may create subtle illumination effects. You can also experiment with infill patterns in the base to produce interesting light textures.
For the diffuser, white, translucent, transparent, or colored filaments work particularly well. Different material choices dramatically change the character of the lamp, allowing you to create anything from a soft ambient glow to vibrant colored lighting. Combining contrasting colors between the base and diffuser can further enhance the visual impact of the final piece._
