Fart Fighter 5000
DIY filter to contain your nefarious gases. Great for resin printing!
Thread the parts onto M3 or 4-40 threaded rod and use wing nuts to secure. You can also use the Spacer as a stencil to cut a hole in a bin to make a makeshift fume hood!
Two Filter Frame Halves are needed to hold one piece of filter foam. Any foam about 5mm (1/4") that you can cut to a 120mm square will work. Here's one that might work: https://amzn.to/3bD1fQA
My configuration is:
- Grill
- 120mm fan, blowing away from grill
- Spacer
- 2x Filter Frame Half holding foam
- Charc-Holder
- 2x Filter Frame Half holding foam
- Spacer
- 120mm fan, blowing out
- Hose Adapter
After assembling, fill the Charc-Holder with activated carbon pellets or granules, such as https://amzn.to/3dMRXEp
Then, use M2.5 screws to affix the Charcoal Lid to the Charc-Holder.
No parts need support material.
You can build your own configuration! Replace the Hose Adapter with another Grill if desired. Line up multiple Charc-Holders for more filtering fun.

Model was oriented weird and needed to be resized to 75% to fit a 120 fan
are you sure 120mm fan? I printed it and it looks like 180 mm fan... can you please check ?
Can I remix this?
Just a heads up that the default size when printed requires 140mm fans vs 120mm
In the Charc-Holder.stl the Lid is also present in the file, I am printing on a resin printer and am unsure how to remove it from the 3d object. I managed to split the Holder with Windows 3D Builder to fit on my print bed.
When it says "great for resin printing" that is specifically to be used as a final product to remove fumes from a room where a resin printer is residing within, not printed on a resin printer. You can still print on a resin printer, but you will be using a LOT of resin for no real appreciable gain. These parts are meant to be printed flat on an fdm printer, and in that configuration the lid will either not bond to the piece it nests in or would require a small amount of force to split them.
Can you make a half size? a whole one wont fit on my bed
