Gear Cube Desk Lamp
Hey, this is my Gear Cube Desk Lamp. Inspired by the Classic 3D printable Fidget Toy.
You Need: There are 2 Versions of this design. One For a glueless assembly and one that is meant to work with glue. Choose what to pick. Btw. if the glueless Assembly does not work, you can still revert to glue.
Printed parts: 3 Big Gears 4 Small Gears 1 Foot 4 Big Rings 4 Small Rings 1 Holder (if you use a socket holder) The Glueless Version also needs 12 Connectors
You do also need a light source. You can use Bambu Lab's light kit. Or use a bulb socket holder. I cannot recommend everything my socket since it is a EU Socket. If you live somewhere else or can't get it, just make sure to buy something similar. It should have a screw and be an E14 if you are in the Eu or a E12 in the US.
Print Settings: You need to print this in white Filament. Otherwise, the Light won't shine through. Nothing needs supports. Use your favorite Settings for your Filament. The Gears Should be printed solid. That means use 10 Walls (sometimes called Loops) or 100% infill.
Assembly: I made a Video on How to put this thing together. https://youtu.be/B55iNnz8dc4 There is also a detailed PDF Guide inside the download.
Troubleshooting: Connectors Break: You can try to print them in PETG. Just switch to the Glue Version and reprint the rings if you can't get the connectors to work.

Can it all be printed in PETG?
Yes. But use white for the translucent stuff.
I just gone done making it, printed the cube and base in PLA and the gears in PETG, I used super glue because the connecters made the movement kinda rough. After that it looks great, anyway to add a gear for a motor like the one Bambu uses for their marble run to make it move on its own? also the base would be better if it was heavier.
Made my day that you printed this. None ever said a word, no idea if it was ever printed before. TY!
There is a second base that looks a little better and stands better. i haven't done that motorization jet but it's on the list :D
