“Skeleton leaves” occur after leaf tissue decays and falls off, leaving behind the leaf’s delicate vascular structures. Real skeleton leaves are thin and fragile, but these resin-printed models will hold up much better!

This download includes nine models, each with unique outlines and venation patterns. Mirroring the model on the build plate will give even more variety.

These models are designed for resin printing. Print as oriented with the stem towards the build plate. Generate supports on the stem and thickened portion at the base of the leaf, but avoid adding support further up the delicate edges of the leaf.

At the scale provided, the smallest veins are .2mm diameter. The models have been successfully test printed at 50%. At this scale the smallest views are .1mm, the diameter of a human hair.

The term “arcuate” refers to venation patterns where the secondary veins curve upwards, following the margin of the leaf blade. Examples of plants with arcuate leaves include dogwoods and hostas.
