Stormtrooper

Stormtrooper

This Stormtrooper figure is easy to print, requiring no supports, MMU/AMS, or glue and is a blast to assemble! It functions the same as my other BIG BRICK models, which are all derived from my base model: Generic Figure.

Printing Instructions:

  • STLs already in suggested printing orientation
  • No supports needed
  • I would always recommend using a brim if you're not certain about the bed adhesion of any of these parts. In particular, the hands and arms can cause issues if there is poor adhesion.

Filament Used In Pictures

This is a list of the filament I used while making this model. I receive no money from you clicking these links, and there may be better choices. This is just what I had available and what I thought looked good! Hope it helps :)

Required Parts/Tools for Assembly:

  • 3D Printed Parts [Filament]
    • Body
      • 1x - Head [Army Beige]
      • 1x - Torso - White Part [Cotton White]
      • 1x - Torso - Black Parts [True Black]
      • 1x - Arms (brim may be helpful, connector portions may print uncleanly, this is okay!) [Cotton White]
      • 1x - Hands (may be helpful to add a brim) [True Black]
      • 1x - Waist Assembly [True Black]
      • 1x - Legs - White Parts [Cotton White]
      • 1x - Legs - Black Parts [True Black]
    • Accessories
      • 1x - Helmet - White Parts [Cotton White]
      • 1x - Helmet - Black Parts [True Black]
      • 1x - Gun Assembly [True Black]

  • Tools (ALL OPTIONAL)
    • Super Glue (for holding figure in one position/pose if desired)
    • Small Allen Wrench (to twist on part of waist assembly)

Assembly Instructions:

Each of my BIG BRICK models are built from the same base model and the majority of the assembly is the same for each of them. You can find detailed assembly instructions for my models on that base model's designer post here: Generic Figure. You can find all other instructions relating to this model specifically below. Enjoy!

Helmet: This is the most intricate, and fun part of the assembly! Hope you enjoy it :) Start by inserting the black vent parts into the underside of the main white helmet part. It should be a snug fit, and the black pegs should come all the way up to the top white surface.

After those parts are in, insert the black parts into the cheeks and ears. They also simply press-fit in. There are mirrored parts on both sides.

IMG_5772.jpgIMG_5773.jpg

Set that aside and grab the black brow/eyepiece and the two black trapezoidal parts. The trapezoidal parts slide into the brow along the inside brim. Once they are both in, they should be flush with the brow like in the second picture below.

Insert this brow assembly into the top of the first assembly. Once it is in, slide the top of the helmet down on top to lock it all in place. The top of the helmet should be a snug fit.

IMG_5752.jpgIMG_5753.jpg

Set that aside and grab the white chin part. Insert the two small black cylinder parts into either side of the chin, and then slide the tube-like part in from the bottom. They should all be snug fits.

IMG_5757.jpgIMG_5759.jpg

This chin part has a pocket on its backside that is meant for the dovetail pin on the front of the main white helmet part. Slide the chin assembly down onto this dovetail pin until it can't go any further. It should look like the second picture below.

 IMG_5774.jpgIMG_5762.jpg

Next, take the mouth/vent part and slide it down into the gap between the face and chin (make sure it's oriented like in the first picture below!). Slide it all the way down as far as you can, you may hear a small click. It should seat in so it's below the main face surface.

IMG_5775.jpgIMG_5776.jpg

To finish the helmet and tie everything together, take the last two small white parts and insert them into the two small dovetail holes on the bottom of the chin. Press them in until they sit flush with the bottom of the chin - they should be a snug fit. This will keep the chin from sliding back up and off the main helmet body, and create a smooth transition between the two parts. Nice work!

Torso: The torso assembly is pretty straightforward - simply insert the two black parts into the white main part. There are a handful of nubs on the black parts that should line up with the holes in the white part.

IMG_5788.jpgIMG_5789.jpg

Legs: The legs are also pretty simple. First slide the larger black parts in to the top of the legs, they should fit snug and line up with the surfaces on the white parts.

IMG_5784.jpgIMG_5786.jpg

After that, press in the smaller black parts into their respective legs. I liked to use my fingernail to make sure I was pressing them as deep in their slots as I could.

Weapon: There are two dovetail pins included with the gun. I recommend sliding the longer one into one half of the gun, then slide the other half of the gun onto this pin until both halves are aligned. Finish by inserting the shorter pin into the handle of the gun.

In the instructions, it says "1x - Waist Assembly [Cotton White]", but it definitely looks like True Black in your pictures. Is this just a mistake in the instruction's text?
